Our History
The Hearth Network is Southport's community sustainability organisation. We run programmes that connect people to nature, to each other and to the idea that a greener, more connected Southport is possible right now. From forest school to community lunches, beach cleans to sustainable sewing — everything we do is rooted in this place and the people who call it home.
Why we're called The Hearth
The hearth is the oldest gathering place there is — the fire at the centre of home and community, where people are fed and warmed, where stories are shared, and where strangers become friends. Most modern homes no longer have a fireplace, but Southport still needs a hearth like that. We're lighting a modern, green one — burning a renewable, earth-friendly fuel — and there's a place around it for you.

Sewing circles, repair workshops & clothes swaps, all designed to keep clothes and textiles out of landfill — and pass on the skills to make things last. Because caring for what we have is caring for the earth.
