Can You Spare a Few Hours?
The Hearth is growing, and we can't run what's coming without more hands. Come and join us in Southport — however often suits you.
There is no big team behind The Hearth. There's a small group of Southport people who believe this town can be greener, warmer and better connected — and who show up to make it happen.
Volunteering with us isn't a big commitment. It might be one Saturday morning. It might be an hour helping serve tea. It might be sitting beside someone at a sewing machine while they work out which way the thread goes. Small things, done well, done together.
If you can hand sew and use a machine, we'd love you alongside our workshop leaders. You'd be helping newcomers find their feet, giving extra time and patience to people who need it, and supporting the workshop leader through the session.
The unglamorous work that makes a session feel welcoming before anyone walks in. Putting the room together and packing it away, keeping the tea and coffee coming, and setting up the clothes rails at our swaps and keeping them tidy.
The friendly face at the door, and the person who makes the paperwork painless. Checking people in on Eventbrite, helping people fill in feedback forms, and answering questions, we'll show you the rest.
Please reach us at info@thehearthnetwork.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
As much or as little as you like. Some people come to every session, some come once a season. Both are genuinely welcome.
Not at all. Most of our volunteers hadn't either. The only role that needs a specific skill is sewing — everything else we can show you on the day.
Our volunteers range widely in age and background, and most arrive knowing nobody. Come once and see how it feels — you're not committing to anything by turning up.
Whatever you can give, we'd love to have you. Fill in the form and we'll be in touch for a proper chat. The Hearth Network is based in Southport, Sefton.
