Earth Day

Community Big Lunches

Earth Day Southport is our annual celebration of the natural world. In 2026 we gathered in the heart of town for an Earth Day Peace Circle — music, poetry and quiet reflection, open to people of all ages, backgrounds and beliefs — and unveiled the community-made Southport Memory Quilt.

Community Big Lunches

A table big enough for everyone. The Great Big Green Lunch brings neighbours together over good food at Southport Market, as part of The Eden Project's Big Lunch and the Climate Coalition's Great Big Green Week — with live music, a baking competition and crafts. Over 200 people joined us in 2026. Because a sustainable community is one where no one eats alone.

Coastal Care

Southport's identity is inseparable from its coast — so once a year we help look after it. As part of the Marine Conservation Society's national Great British Beach Clean, and alongside our CASA Business Network, volunteers clear and record litter from Southport Beach, then gather for food and stories. In 2025, fifteen of us removed 50.25kg in a single day.

Rethinking Clothes

CASA Business Network

Sustainable Stitching

What do we do with the mountain of unworn clothes? We rethink them. Through free clothes swaps, repair workshops and our Swish & Stitch project, we help Southport keep clothes in use and out of landfill — a friendlier, more circular wardrobe for our town. Because the greenest clothes are the ones we already own.

Forest School

Roots for Wellbeing is our free Forest School programme for young people aged 11–16 at Ainsdale Sand Dunes — six Monday mornings of confidence, friendship and time outdoors. In a small, supportive group led by a qualified Forest School Leader, they build shelters, carve spoons and discover the wild places on their doorstep. Because the generation growing up now will inherit this place.

Community Film Screenings

We host free community film screenings on climate and nature — followed by warm, honest conversation. A chance to come together, look at the evidence, and talk about what it means for Southport, in good company. Everyone welcome, wherever you're starting from.
