The Hearth Network uses the One Planet Living® framework from Bioregional to guide our sustainability action plan for Southport—uniting local businesses, councils and communities to live well within our planet’s means
One Planet Living® is owned and operated by the purpose‑led sustainability charity and consultancy Bioregional. Created in 2003 with WWF, it sets out 10 intuitive principles—from Health & Happiness and Equity & Local Economy to Zero Waste and Zero Carbon Energy—to help organisations design and deliver sustainability in a joined‑up way. Today it’s used globally across communities, businesses and local governments

We are committed to making Southport a green, thriving place to live, work and visit. Guided by the One Planet Living® principles, we work across all sectors—business, education, health, tourism, arts and community—to create practical solutions that benefit everyone.
Our approach is socially inclusive: we bring together local businesses, councils, anchor institutions, and community groups to deliver projects that reduce carbon emissions, protect nature, and build a circular economy. From supporting green jobs and sustainable supply chains to promoting active travel and zero waste, every action we take is designed to improve wellbeing and resilience for the whole community.
Together, we can showcase Southport as a leading example of sustainability—where people and planet thrive in harmony.

The One Planet Living (OPL) table is a simple yet powerful framework built around 10 interconnected principles—from Health & Happiness and Equity & Local Economy to Zero Waste and Zero Carbon Energy. Each principle acts as a lens to help us plan and deliver projects that make sense for people and the planet.
